01

Challenge

Talent Acquisition professionals needed to recognize how bias can influence decisions throughout the recruitment journey, create more inclusive candidate experiences, and confidently coach hiring leaders when potentially biased assumptions or requests surfaced.

02

My Role

I transformed subject-matter-expert content into the complete learning experience. I designed the presentation, learning flow, activities, scenarios, discussions, quizzes, and facilitator materials, collaborated with SMEs throughout development, and personally facilitated the program.

03

Approach

I designed the experience around a progression from:

  1. Awareness
  2. Reflection
  3. Practice
  4. Application

Rather than treating inclusion as information to remember, learners first explored key concepts and assumptions that can influence recruitment decisions. They then reflected on their own thinking and experiences, worked through realistic recruitment scenarios, discussed different responses, and practised how they could apply the learning in conversations with candidates and hiring leaders.

The goal was not simply to help people know more about inclusive recruitment, but to help them do something differently when faced with a real hiring decision.

04

Impact

The program reached 200+ Talent Acquisition professionals and received strongly positive participant feedback. Learners described the experience as eye-opening and reported feeling better prepared to recognize and address bias in recruitment situations.

05

Reflection

This experience reinforced for me that sensitive learning topics require more than presenting information. People need an environment where they can examine assumptions, discuss difficult situations, and practise applying new thinking without feeling that they are simply being told what to believe.

Storytelling, realistic scenarios, curiosity, authenticity, and discussion became important parts of how I facilitated the experience—and continue to influence how I design learning today.
